Samy Mahdy

Dr. Samy Mahdy is a physician, author, and Islamic scholar dedicated to bridging the worlds of science and spirituality. Originally trained in medicine at Cairo University (MBBCh, 1986), he went on to complete residency training with Egypt’s Ministry of Health in 1992. He later practiced in Saudi Arabia in the fields of anesthesia and medical administration before immigrating to Canada in 2013, where he expanded his expertise with diplomas in medical administration and clinical research.

Alongside his medical career, Dr. Mahdy has pursued a lifelong passion for the Qur’an and its interpretation. He is the founder of the Spiritual Qur’an Translation Project, which seeks to make the Qur’an accessible to a global audience through clear, spiritually resonant English translations. His work often highlights the connection between nature and revelation, with books such as Plants in the Qur’an and Insects in the Qur’an: The Mites, exploring how natural phenomena reflect divine signs.

Dr. Mahdy regularly participates in international conferences on Qur’an translation and Islamic studies, where he contributes research and engages with fellow scholars. His publications are available through platforms like Amazon and Lulu, reaching readers worldwide.

Blending his background in medicine, administration, and religious scholarship, Dr. Mahdy brings a unique perspective to contemporary discussions on faith, science, and the human experience.
