Bernie Gilmore

Bernie Gilmore, singer, song-writer, guitarist and banjo player is always looking for a good story to make into another song. Bernie combines his passion for international development (recipient 2001 Lewis Perinbaum award for excellence in development in rural Africa) with an enthusiasm for song writing and performing. Bernie has recorded two solo cd’s – “another path,” songs of personal inspiration and “OIL BOOM,” celebrating Canada’s history of oil discovery and a third “SEA FEVER” with the band Scallywag. Bernie has twice received nominations in the London Music Awards for best singer-songwriter in the folk/roots category.

Bernie has written his first book “Heart of Africa” which documents his work as a Canadian aid Worker in drought stricken Ethiopia and his subsequent work in Africa for a period of ten years.

Bernie is currently working on his second book “When We Were Two Little Boys” which tells the story of growing up with his older brother Patrick and his emotional recovery following Patrick’s tragic death by suicide.
